Blue Eyed Marys

My current favorite restaurant (http://blue-eyed-marys.com), an interesting dinner ahead, and jazz on the sound system. Mmmmm.

The menu changes here every month. This month there is a slow roasted lamb shoulder that is very good, apparently. I'm thinking I will either get that or the spicy BBQ chicken.

I figure - since I biked 10k today - I deserve an appetizer, too. The sweet pepper and fennel soup with black eyed pea salsa? Oh yeah.

For now, I am just waiting for my dinner companions. So I'll put away my phone and look civilized.

Sunrise

The time change over the weekend means that the 7:30am ferry is, once again and for a few more weeks, a 'sunrise ferry.' Nothing wrong with that.

Snow

The snow is coming down heavily here on Bowen Island. The temperature is not bad (-2 C) and we've got plenty of wood for the fire. So far the power hasn't gone out, even in the terrible winds last week, so I am hopeful that this snow won't knock us off the grid, either.

My grades are in, my work is pretty much wrapped up for the year, so I am content to stay in and enjoy the view from my window. The dogs are keen for a walk, so Max is taking them.

It isn't for sure that this will stick around for Christmas, still more than a week away, but the forecast so far is for cold and clear weather through the rest of the week, once this snow is over (tomorrow).

There is a wonderful "reset" built into a snowfall around here. We don't see our surroundings in any colour other than green most of the time, so this encourages us to see things a little differently and perhaps reflect on why it is that we live in this cabin in the woods.
