Is PowerPoint EVER Done Right?

I am at a conference right now, sitting through another excruciating presentation, unable to see the screen or follow the argument.

I think academic conferences should encourage people to NOT arrive with presentations prepared. They should come with the results of their research. Then the conference organizers should have a half day workshop on what they want to accomplish in this conference. Then everyone should participate in a "how to make a good presentation," perhaps focusing on the "pecha kucha" approach or at least a tutorial like the slide show, above. Then, that evening, everyone prepares their presentation - perhaps in a large room, sharing ideas and suggestions. The conference would begin the next day. People who didn't participate in day 1 won't be allowed on the agenda.
